His life was in utter turmoil, yet Job still loved the Lord. In chapter three of this book we find Job among three of His friends mourning his losses and sickness. They had come to mourn with Job and according to the Bible they sat on the ground in silence for seven whole days because of the greatness of grief Job had. Then breaking his silence, Job cursed the day he was born. A portion of this chapter reads this way,
“There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.
There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.
The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.
Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;
Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?
For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.
For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.” Job 3:17-26.
Imagine a grief so terrible that you want to die.
Job is wishing that he had never been born at this point of his life. Who can blame him? I’m sure there have been moments we’ve all felt like Job to a certain extent. Everyone experiences small bouts of sadness or even depression.
But, there comes a point where the devil can attach himself to you like a life-sucking leech. He comes bearing one blown up circumstance after another by manipulating, lying, and making your life out to be like one big drama reel. You seem to be the bullseye to which all gunshots are being fired so to speak. Your life suddenly seems worse than everyone elses.
Before you know it, small life circumstances start to metastasize into a seemingly blood thirsty cancer. One after another overtaking your ability to think and causing you to live in constant strife. Welcome to the world the enemy would love for you to live in.
Coming to the realization that the devil loves for you to be in uproar about everything illuminates and reveals his dark ways. You cannot allow him the pleasure of just going along with these agonizing thought processes. He just sits back and laughs when you can’t think straight because of your stress load.
He wants so badly for you to believe the lie that you can’t be free from his crippling grip. So, in a response of weakness, you silence your voice and don’t ask for God’s help. Silencing you is his key to opening a whole new empty world of darkness.
Can’t you see satan’s attempts to drain you of life and snuff out the light Jesus put inside you? We see it in many forms of course but, they all encompass the same dark plan.
There have been times that I struggle with feeling like I’m not “enough”. I could’ve conquered Mount Everest and my accomplishment still feels so inadequate and like all my efforts are in vain. The smallest instances can cause me to be upset on days I let this attitude take root. I feel like a disaster. One emotional roller coaster hill after another and my energy is sapped. I should have just stayed in bed because my existence isn’t worth one penny on those days!
But, I’m learning to overcome through the power of my words and actions and you can too.
Your mind is your biggest asset. If the enemy can win it, hes got the gold. Speaking and believing things contrary to the Bible are lethal. Use your mouth and mind to your advantage. God gave them to you! Open your mouth and speak good things. They may be contradictory to how your feeling at the moment, but they work. You were created by the hands of God and purposed to praise Jesus in everything you do. Anything against His word should be thrown out!
Jesus’ whispers in one ear of love and assurance can be drown out when your tuned to hearing everything the enemy is screaming in the other.
You were uniquly fashioned and formed by the Creator of the universe and you cannot live without communication to Him. Jesus is the one true LIFESOURCE. So many have tried and failed miserably at living without Him. When you find yourself in a constant state of turmoil, enlighten yourself with the true word of the Lord. It may take some time to learn how to apply this, but you can. When the enemy comes to suck the life out of you, fight back!
But, don’t stop there, live in God’s word. Equip yourself properly.
Your soul gasps for that life only Jesus can bring. Don’t continue to struggle, reach for the SOURCE OF LIFE and kill the lifesucker!
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phillippians 4:8 KJV
