“He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord…” John 1:23
I once heard it said that John the Baptist recognized the divinity of Jesus long before anyone else because it says in Luke 1:41 “And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.” Even as an unborn child John was giving adoration to Jesus, the coming Messiah (yet to be born Himself.) John had a known connection to Jesus and a calling even before birth.
John was sent to proclaim Jesus to everyone around him. He was called, set-apart and instrumentally used as a voice for The Gospel. John’s ways were “different” from those around him. I’m sure many talked about and most likely questioned his intentions. But, he knew his God-given purpose and nothing stopped him. Not even death.
History is still enthused by his uncompromising and fiery words to the religious folk around him when he said, “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 3:2. His words were sharp, yet true. Many today wouldn’t be willing to be as bold as he.
Yet, God is desiring to propel many of you as arrows from His bow. When released, you will go fourth speaking the sharp truth and love of Christ. Are you willing to be an arrow?
Society is unknowingly screaming to hear the voices crying in the wilderness again. No can reach where you can. God has given you unmarked territory.
Some have backed down in fear of what might be said of them. But, what they fail to realize is that the Truth that is instilled within them is so desperately needed.
All of Hell is laughing in utter enjoyment when lips remain shut out of fear.
God has not called you to sit with your lips seemingly glued shut. The fire in your heart doesn’t burn without purpose.
It’s time for voices to begin proclaiming The Gospel of Jesus again. We can not be silent any longer. The fate of this land hangs in the balance. Many of us have been relentlessly pursued by Jesus and the world needs to hear about it!
Do not fear, be strong, be sharp and obedient as unto Jesus. He has given you a voice. Pray for direction and get ready to be propelled. That voice has authority to carry truths able to unlock the most hardened of hearts and bring light to the evil dwelling in the land.
Speak! Proclaim! Be that voice!
